Armies of Great Britain

I've been waiting for Warlord Games and Osprey Publishing's latest army book, Arrmies of Great Britain for a long time.

Well, the game hasn't yet been out for a year. I guess it hasn't been that long - but my Tommies needed some love! And love, they got!

Review: Back Tree Design Soviet Infantry

With so many support options ready to serve the Motherland, my recruiters have been busy putting bodies in boots to fill the ranks of my riflemen.  These thirty soldiers from Black Tree Designs will be the core of my Bolt Action army.  Equipped with Mosin Nagants, PPSH 41 sub-machineguns and DP light machine guns, these troops are ready to repel the fascist invaders from Mother Russia.

Battle of the Bulge by Ron Bingham

Battle of the Bulge; Bolt Action style!  By Ron Bingham

Somewhere in Belgium, Dec 17th 1944

An Armored Inf platoon defends a bridge and ruined village against a unit of the 272nd Volksgrenadiers made up of "Green" Volksgrenadiers and a unit of Veteran Recon Inf with AFV's in support. The battle will go a max of 8 turns and the Germans must capture the bridge (hold both ends of the bridge)for a victory. All water obstacles are frozen and any AFV that crosses must roll a D6, even it crosses freely; odd the AFV falls through the ice and is out of action for the battle. All units except the American 57mm AT gun start off the board.

Review: Black Tree Designs Soviet Anti-Tank Guns

Feared by German panzer commanders up and down the Eastern Front, Soviet anti tank guns were known for their ability to knock out oncoming Fascist tanks and frustrating their advance.  Black Tree Designs make two Soviet anti-tank guns. The small but effective 37mm, and the reliable 57mm Zis-3.

Review: Reaper Soviet Female Sniper

When it comes to the Great Patriotic War there is nothing more iconic than the image of the Soviet sniper taking aim and defending his or her country from the invading German war machine.  While there are lots of options out there for Soviet snipers, by far one of the coolest looking is the Ivanetta Kozlov: Russian Sniper miniature from Reaper Miniatures Chronoscope range.

Plastic Soldier Company Soviet Infantry

By now I hope you've all seen Joe's "Work in Progress" pictures of these beauties- but now I am happy to say I am the proud owner!  Joe has dilligently painted 2/3 of the 28mm Russian Infantry in Summer Uniform by The Plastic Soldier Company.
That's right!  Pictured above is a mere 2/3 of the box.  Did I mention the box is £18.50 (about $30)?  So many dudes in this box! (oh, and ladies)

BoltAction.Net Painting Contest Winners

The great BoltAction.Net Painting Contest came to a close on Christmas Eve of 2012. If you haven't seen all the incredible entries, they can be found in the Painting Contest Entries article.

Bergkonig79's squad entry. I've seen that squad leader somewhere before...

Anyone judging a contest feels at least a bit obliged to say something along the lines of, "judging the best entry was the hardest decision of my life," but in our case, that hyperbole wasn't faked. There were amazing painters and modellers involved in this contest, and all of the winners were decided by the narrowest of margins. If you haven't already checkout out the entry article linked above, you're missing out.
